The following takes place between the hours of 3:45 pm and 4:30 pm Central Standard Time on June 14, 2011.

Me 3:45 pm: Got my audition music. The Wind Ensemble auditions are straightforward enough. Three etudes a fair bit harder than state etudes were this year. Jazz, however, is another story. I have to play/improvise over Anthropology, sightread, all 12 major, 12 natural minor, 12 bebop scales, and chromatic full range, and play the lead tenor of a piece called Hot House (208 bpm, lots of sax soli’s). Lol. My work is cut out for me.

Him 4:25 pm: [My name]. May all that is sax guide you on your lofty quest to the sacred realm that is college saxophone. Our prayers to Parker, Mule, and Woolery that you survive the journey with relative ease. Blessed be the reed makers.
